Terms of Use

Each poem which is part of the Genghis Lotus poetry collection is copyright © Hugh Cook as per the date of the copyright notice posted on the page which contains the text of that particular poem. In the case of each poem, all rights are reserved, with the following exceptions:

1. The HTML page featuring the poem may be copied in its entirity and distributed for classroom use, providing it is distributed complete and without modification.

2. Any portion of the poem on any HTML page which is part of the Genghis Lotus collection may be used for classroom use providing the following provisos are complied with:

(a) Any excerpted text is presented without modification;

(b) There is a copyright notice in the following form, or in a format which is substantially similar:

"This poem TITLE OF POEM is Copyright © Applicable Year Of Copyright Notice [as given on the HTML page] Hugh Cook. Used by permission."

In the case of an excerpt from the poem, the words "This poem TITLE OF POEM" should read "This excerpt from the poem TITLE OF POEM."

"Classroom use" is to be interpreted as including use for setting term papers and other homework and setting tests and examinations.

The permissions thus granted are intended to make life easier for teachers and, if possible, to do something to promote the English language in general and the teaching of creative writing and poetry in general.
